Vaccination Program as a Form of Nationalism during a Pandemic for All Indonesian People
Vaccination Program as a Form of Nationalism during a Pandemic for All Indonesian People
Indonesia has Pancasila as the basis of the state. Pancasila means "Five Basics" and contains a very deep meaning for the life of the state. Pancasila is the ideology and way of life of the Indonesian people which provides the basis for philosophy and values for all Indonesian people. We can reflect on these Pancasila values in the context of vaccination as a form of nationalism during a pandemic which is closely related to the practice of the 3rd principle of Pancasila, namely "Persatuan Indonesia" (Indonesian Unity). This 3rd principle provides a holistic characteristic of Indonesian nationalism and contains the meaning of nationalism. Vaccination is a form of effort between the government and all Indonesian people so that all levels of society are protected from the transmission of the Covid-19 virus. This vaccination program must be addressed nationally by all levels of society because the vaccination program is part of an effort to protect the people's right to live and earn a living.
Nationalism is a feeling of one as a nation, one as a citizen of Indonesia, the growth of love for each other, as well as love for the country and the nation. On the other hand, togetherness and cooperation also underlies Indonesian Unity. In the context of this vaccination, of course we need nationalism, togetherness, and cooperation. Nationalism is needed so that the whole community understands that the provision of vaccines is realized for the common good. Cooperation is needed so that we can remind each other to cooperate with the government so that the vaccination program can be successful so that all parties can be free from the transmission of the Covid-19 virus. We must let go of our egos to empathize and respect the sacrifices of medical personnel, volunteers, and other parties who participate in organizing the vaccination program. In addition, togetherness also needed so that we can work together to participate in providing support to all parties involved in vaccination activities by prioritizing the interests of the state above personal interests.
Vaccination is a strategic effort to break the chain of the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Therefore, this method was chosen by the government as an effort to protect all Indonesian people from the transmission of the Covid-19 virus. The vaccines used have previously passed clinical trials by 40 pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions around the world and have also been recognized according to WHO standards. Therefore, we as the Indonesian people should support the vaccination program very well and not make any provocation or hate speech related to this vaccination. This is because the vaccination program is one of the government's programs as an effort to create healthy Indonesians and free from the Covid-19 virus. If the whole community agree to make success this vaccination program, then the nationalism during a pandemic will be more strongly maintained as well as the implementation of the 3rd precept of Pancasila, namely "Persatuan Indonesia" (Indonesian Unity) will be increasingly maintained in practicing the behavior of the Indonesian people.
